Saulius S. Lipčius is an acitve performer, teacher, guitar Associate Professor in Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. The guitarist in addition to playing classical guitar, performs on a modern archlute "Liuto forte". The musician actively participates in variuos concert projects, is a member of different ensembles.
Saulius belongs to the fourth generation of musicians in his family. Constantly surrounded by music, he became interested in guitar at the age of 12. Until then he studied piano and choir singing in the Ąžuoliukas musical school. In 2008 he received his MA diploma in the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (guitar class of Prof. Julius Kurauskas).
Saulius has won several national and international guitar competitions. The guitarist actively performs with various musicians, actors and ensembles. Since 1998 he has been performing together with his father, who was a long time member of the M. K. Čiurlionis string quartet. In 2007 together with a Lithuanian actress Virginija Kochanskytė Saulius S. Lipčius released a poetry-music CD "Romansero bėgančiam laikui" while In 2011 his first solo CD "Guitar Temptations". Since 2017 the musician is an active member of various early music ensembles, playing his liuto forte and baroque guitar he participated in "Baroque spring in Biržai", "Marco Scacchi early music festival", "Banchetto Musicale" and others.
Since 1999 the musician had performed in famous concert halls both in Lithuania and abroad, including Latvia, Poland, Germany, United Kingdom, Denmark, Russia, Norway, France, Spain, Sweden, and Estonia. At the age of mere 19 he made his debut in the prestigious London‘s Southbank center, where he performed a two-part recital in the Purcell room. Saulius S. Lipčius also actively participates in national festivals: Biržai, Pažaislis Music Festival, The Great Parade of Musicians, Tytuvėnai Summer Festival, Christopher Summer Festival, Jauna muzika, Summer of Palanga, Muzikos ruduo, Vilnius City Hall Guitar Festival, Gaida, etc. The guitarist is also often invited to act as a jury member in national and international competitions. Saulius is frequently chosen by composers to perform in their premieres. His recordings are often aired on the National radio.
Since 2004 Saulius has been actively teaching and many of his pupils and students have become the winners of national and international competitions. The musician is an Associate Professor (Docent) in the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he works since 2008. Since 2014 Saulius plays with a modern lute "Liuto forte".
