Sergej Krincin

Sergej Krincin
Sergej Krinicin started learning to play the guitar at the age of 14 with his first teacher Jurgis Rimkevičius, the founder of the Lithuania‘s classical guitar school. In 1994–1996 Sergej continued his studies at Kaunas J. Gruodis Conservatory. In 1996–2003 he studied in the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (with docent Julius Kurauskas). In 2000–2002 he studied in Moscow with the supervision of the famous Russian guitarist and teacher Alexander Frauchi.
Sergej is a winner of Lithuania‘s classical guitar festivals and competitions. In 2000–2001 he went on a concert tour in Russia and Germany. After returning to Lithuania in 2002, the musician has actively participated in musical activities in Lithuania and abroad. He has performed together with Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (conductor professor Saulius Sondeckis), chamber orchestras of Kaunas, Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and Klaipėda, as well as with Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra. Sergej can frequently be seen performing together with the famous Lithuanian singer Judita Leitaitė, with whom the guitarist has released a CD of Russian romances. Since 2010 the guitarist has also been actively performing in The Gentlemen Duo together with a famous violin virtuoso Vilhelmas Čepinskis.
In 2005 the musician received very positive appraisals for his recital in the prestigious international guitar festival Andrés Segovia in Spain. ‘In Krinicin’s interpretation of J. S. Bach‘s Chaconne d-moll and Francisco Tarrega‘s The Carnival of Venice both the clarity of form and the purity of performance could even be compared to that of A. Segovia. The performer‘s expression and elegance reminds of the creative work of the grand maestro Linares. The listeners of the recital, gathered in A. Segovia's house-museum, had a chance to experience wonderful skills of the performer, whose performance was highly and emotionally appreciated‘, wrote Ch. Parrilla in his article The wonderful concerto by Sergej Krinicin (Diario jean, 2005 11 22, Spain).
Sergej is also actively involved in teaching - in 2001 he established a guitar class at Kaunas J. Naujalis music school. Many of his students have become winners of national and international guitar competitions. Since 2001 Sergej has been teaching in the Music Academy at Vytautas Magnus University.
